Ueno Onshi Park is known for its cherry blossoms and Shinobazu Pond (Shinobazu no Ike), also known as the Cultural Forest, and is commonly called just Ueno Park.

The Ueno Park Cherry Blossom Festival is one of Tokyo’s favorite cherry blossom viewing spots and attracts thousands.

The park is home to many cultural facilities such as the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Western Art, the National Museum of Nature and Science, and the Ueno Zoo, as well as a statue of Takamori Saigo by sculptor Koun Takamura.

The Shinobazuno Pond, which is synonymous with the park, offers boating, cherry blossom viewing in spring, lotus leaves in summer, and other beautiful scenery created by the trees and flowers, making it a great place for couples and families alike.

The only sports facility in the park is a baseball field named after the haiku poet Masaoka Shiki, and the rows of cherry trees stretching south from the baseball field to the Shimizu Kannon-do Temple are also a sight to behold in the spring.

The Takenodai plaza is especially noteworthy as it will be improved. Nearby is Asakusa, where Senso-ji Temple is located, offering a different historical experience from that of Ueno.
