The National Theatre of Japan is where you can see performances of Kabuki, Bunraku, and Noh, traditional Japanese performing arts, and is located on the north side of the National Diet Building in Chiyoda Ward.

National Theter Cherry Blossom Tokyo

The cherry blossoms in the front yard of the National Theatre are said to be one of the best-hidden cherry blossom viewing spots in Chiyoda Ward, and the “National Theatre Cherry Blossom Festival” is held there every year.

The National Theatre Sakura Festival is held every year in front of the National Theatre, and there are many rare cherry trees including Suruga cherry and Surugakomachi.

The beauty of the shades of the cherry blossoms against the massive exterior of the National Theatre, which is modeled after azekura-zukuri architecture, is an art form that can only be seen here.

During the Cherry Blossom Festival, a tokonozukuri (floor table) and a nodate umbrella are set up in the area where the cherry petals fall, making it a perfect place to enjoy the elegance of the cherry blossoms while sipping tea and feeling the Japanese tradition with your loved ones, whether they are students or adults.

The surrounding area is dotted with an abundance of major Japanese landmarks, including the Imperial Palace, the Diet Building, and Kasumigaseki.
