Located in Arai, Nakano-ku, Araiyakushi Baishouin is the largest temple in Nakano and is believed to offer a little divine assistance with raising children and eye health.

The temple enshrines Yakushi Nyorai and Nyoirin Kannon (Goddess of Mercy). The deity is believed to cure eye diseases, raise children, protect the family, and ward off evil spirits.
On New Year’s holidays, a goma prayer service is held and many people visit the shrine to pray for the healing of eye diseases and for the safety of the family, and to obtain amulets with a unique “me” design.

It is about a 5-minute walk from Araiyakushi-mae Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, and about a 20-minute walk from the north exit of Nakano Station on the JR Chuo Line.
Parking is available for several cars, but since there are traffic restrictions during the New Year’s holiday, it is best to use public transportation or pay parking in the neighborhood.
